Drs. Munir and Vivero-Escoto receive an NIH grant

Two UNC Charlotte’s faculty just received a new grant from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ (DHHS) National Institutes of Health (NIH). The project’s co-PI, Dr. Maria Munir, is an assistant professor in Civil & Environmental Engineering. The project’s PI is Dr. Juan Vivero-Escoto, an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry. They partnered to write a proposal on “light-activated silver nanoparticles to eliminate antibiotic resistant bacteria and genes.” The project will be funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS).
